Depending on what kind of hair you have, there are numerous homemade hair treatments that are really easy to recreate with items that are lying around the house. Also these treatments are very cost-effective as they save you a lot of trouble of buying expensive hair-care products and going to the salon every time. This causes your hair to lose its natural shine and oils and break off easily. Traditionally, eggs, curds/yoghurt and honey are the best treatments your hair can get, owing to their natural oils, protein and moisture content, all the factors that healthy, silky hair needs. Homemade hair treatments can be made from the most basic food items, eggs, olive oil, ketchup, beer, yoghurt, mayonnaise, baking soda, cornstarch, etc. But you should first understand the hair type you have, and choose the product based on your personal requirements only.

The healthy ingredients in the mask will revitalize and rejuvenate your hair, bringing back the natural hydrating oils and moisture and much needed proteins. There are different kinds of hair masks you can make depending on your preferences. Some people don’t like their hair smelling all eggy and refrain from using eggs. You can substitute eggs with mayonnaise. Fruit masks are extremely healthy for your hair too. Use 1/4th each of bananas, avocado, cantaloupe/muskmelon, mash them into a paste and mix the paste with a tbsp of wheat germ oil, yoghurt and apply on to your hair for 15 minutes and wash off. A honey and yoghurt hair mask is also naturally hydrating and beneficial for damaged and dry hair.
