Homemade Hair Treatments – Pampering the Crowning Glory
Homemade hair treatments are inexpensive and yet as effective as salon treatments. There are many ingredients in and around your home that will help you to pamper your locks easily, without having to rush to a salon every time.
Homemade Hair Treatments – Whip Up a Recipe
Depending on what kind of hair you have, there are numerous homemade hair treatments that are really easy to recreate with items that are lying around the house. Also these treatments are very cost-effective as they save you a lot of trouble of buying expensive hair-care products and going to the salon every time. Pollution, stress, heating agents, styling gels, chemical colors and bleaches are harmful for your hair, especially if you’ve been using them over a long time period. This causes your hair to lose its natural shine and oils and break off easily. Traditionally, eggs, curds/yoghurt and honey are the best treatments your hair can get, owing to their natural oils, protein and moisture content, all the factors that healthy, silky hair needs. Homemade hair treatments can be made from the most basic food items, eggs, olive oil, ketchup, beer, yoghurt, mayonnaise, baking soda, cornstarch, etc. But you should first understand the hair type you have, and choose the product based on your personal requirements only.
Homemade Hair Mask – Natural Goodness
If you feel your hair is damaged, has lost its shine and has become too dull, then it’s a good idea to whip up a homemade hair mask and return your tresses to their natural glory. The healthy ingredients in the mask will revitalize and rejuvenate your hair, bringing back the natural hydrating oils and moisture and much needed proteins. There are different kinds of hair masks you can make depending on your preferences. Some people don’t like their hair smelling all eggy and refrain from using eggs. You can substitute eggs with mayonnaise. Fruit masks are extremely healthy for your hair too. Use 1/4th each of bananas, avocado, cantaloupe/muskmelon, mash them into a paste and mix the paste with a tbsp of wheat germ oil, yoghurt and apply on to your hair for 15 minutes and wash off. A honey and yoghurt hair mask is also naturally hydrating and beneficial for damaged and dry hair. Remember that after applying your homemade hair mask, cover your hair with a shower cap and a warm towel, leave it on for around 30 minutes and then rinse off or wash off with a mild shampoo and conditioner for best results.
Homemade Hair Conditioner – Beautify Hair
For strong, healthy and shiny hair, it’s best to use a homemade hair conditioner regularly, especially after you use a shampoo, whether store bought or homemade. You can create a simple hair rinse for shiny hair by mixing either lemon juice, vinegar or flat beer with water and then washing your hair with it. Soya proteins are also very helpful for your hair. Make a mix of soybean oil with jojoba or rosemary oil and warm it slowly and gently massage into hair. Leave this for 15 to 20 minutes by wrapping a warm towel and then wash off with mild shampoo. It would also be a good idea to use soya protein powder.
