In chronic conditions, gastroesophagal reflux disease, bacterium helicobacter pylori, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, hypercalcemia, or gall stones may be the leading cause for stomach acidity either alone or in combination.

The acidity symptoms vary from person to person. Some of the common symptoms include uncommon feeling of fullness after the food. The person can also experience stomach bloating, belching, burning sensation or flatulence immediately after consuming the food. In some cases, chronic Candida infection, hair loss is also experienced by the person. Indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, itching in and around the rectum area, several food allergies followed by nausea are also acidity symptoms. The person suffering from acid imbalance can also detect undigested food in the stools. The finger nails become yellow, cracked and peeled in extreme cases. Initial diagnosis in chronic condition can keep the person from severe stomach aches, headaches, and other symptoms.

There are several home remedies for acidity, which includes using stuffs that are available at home for treating acid imbalance. Stuffs like baking soda, pepper mint, ginger, can be used as a first aid for acidity. Baking soda can be mixed with water can help relieving burning sensation caused due to acid indigestion. One table spoon of baking soda can be dissolved in one glass of water for curing. Peppermint soothes the esophagus lining and produces a calming effect to the stomach. Peppermint candy can be tried for this purpose. Green tea is another remedy for acid indigestion. Green tea with natural honey can help cool down your stomach. Epsom salt not only relieves the acidity, but also is useful for gout.
