Varicose Veins Causes – The Occurrence of Unhealthy Veins

Due to the enlargement of veins caused by the stagnated blood that accumulate in certain valves through the body, varicose veins occur. This failure of the valves to properly circulate blood flow is said to have been caused by aging, genetic influence, hormonal changes, leg injuries and even pregnancy.

Varicose Veins Causes – Different Causative Factors Identified

The blood that has not been pumped back to the heart tends to collect in the veins, which result to its enlargement. Some of the known varicose veins causes are aging and genetics. As a natural part of the aging process, veins eventually get enlarged and twisted, in the same way that a record of family history of its development or even leg disability can lead to such condition. Other recognized varicose veins causes are hormonal changes and leg injuries. Hormonal changes during puberty or chemical changes on estrogen or progesterone levels tend to affect the proper function of the veins, while leg injuries contribute in a way that a harmed leg muscle or bone leads to the weakening of the valves.

Varicose Veins in Pregnancy – Causes of Development

The main cause of varicose veins in pregnancy is the hormonal changes that occur in a woman’s body during conception. Due to the increase of progesterone levels, the blood vessels become relaxed which tend to allow the slight separation of the valves’ two halves so as to prevent blood’s back flow. Aside from that, varicose veins in pregnancy can also be caused by an enlarged uterus that tends to press against the pelvic region’s major veins. The increased pressure then leads to the development of the varicose veins. Even the family history of acquiring such condition may lead to its occurrence during pregnancy.

Varicose Veins in Legs – An Overview

Although varicose veins can take form in any body part, varicose veins in legs tend to be more common. Usually, this is caused by the weakened valves, heredity and aging. Aside from that, too much pressure caused by walking upright and standing gives rise to the development of such condition. Even obesity can also lead to varicose veins in legs. Generally, this particular problem manifests through the heaviness and burning sensation one feels as well as aches and tiredness on the affected part. Feet and ankle may also swell and even inflammation, the change in skin color, and scaling can be its signs. Although not totally common, an itching feeling on the veins may also be experienced.
